Step-by-Step Instructions for Caramel Crush Bars
- Begin by melting 1 ¼ cups of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30 seconds, ensuring it’s completely melted but not bubbling.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with 1 ½ cups of quick oats, 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, and 1 ½ cups of brown sugar. Stir until crumbly.
- Take about two-thirds of the crumbly mixture and press it into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 325°F for 10 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, melt ¼ cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1 cup of brown sugar, then add ¼ cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of flour, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Pour the warm caramel filling over the cooled oat crust and sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture on top.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake at 300°F for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares or rectangles.
