  • 8 oz Cream cheese Softened; Neufchâtel cheese can be a lighter alternative.
  • 2 tbsp Scallions Thinly sliced; chives are a great substitute if preferred.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Opt for fresh minced garlic if you desire a stronger kick.
For Frying and Wrapping
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil Essential for frying.
  • 20 pcs Wonton wrappers Egg roll wrappers can also be used.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, scallions, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten edges with water and fold to shape.
  4. Fry assembled rangoons in hot oil one or two at a time for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Remove fried rangoons with a slotted spoon and allow to drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
