Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Shallow dish

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add 1 pound of lean ground beef and cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned and crumbly. Stir in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce.
  2. Once the beef is browned, add 1 cup of shredded carrots and 1 cup of chopped bell peppers to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 2–3 minutes until vegetables are slightly tender but still crunchy.
  3. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds or until it becomes soft. Place it on a clean flat surface.
  4. On the center of the softened rice paper, place 2-3 fresh basil leaves, followed by about 2 tablespoons of the beef and vegetable mixture. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling and roll it tightly from the bottom upwards.
  5. Arrange your freshly made Thai Basil Beef Rolls on a platter. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
