Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Fill a pot with water, ensuring it's about three-quarters full, and place it on the stove over medium heat. Bring the water to a gentle, rolling boil.
  2. While the water heats, carefully crack a fresh egg into a small cup or ramekin.
  3. Once the water reaches a gentle boil, add a generous dash of salt and one teaspoon of vinegar to the pot.
  4. Using a whisk or spoon, stir the water rapidly for about 30 seconds to create a strong circular current.
  5. Gently slide the egg from the cup into the center of the vortex you’ve created.
  6. Allow the egg to poach for about 2 to 3 minutes, depending on your preferred yolk firmness.
  7. Once cooked to your liking, carefully lift the poached egg from the pot using a slotted spoon.
  8. Gently place the poached egg on a paper towel to absorb any excess water before serving.
