  • 1 large Egg Yolk Enhances richness.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Almond extract can be used instead.
For the Pastry
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry Store-bought is recommended.
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash, milk can be a substitute.
For the Finishing Touch
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar Optional for dusting.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugars, lemon zest, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until the blueberries burst.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the egg yolk, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice, mixing until combined.
  4. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. Place it on the baking sheet.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling over the first pastry. Top it with the cooled blueberry filling.
  6. Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top. Cut into diagonal strips and shape into crescents.
  7. Whisk the egg for egg wash and brush over the pastries.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar after cooling for 5 minutes before serving.
