Ingredients

For the Truffle Mixture
  • 8 oz White Chocolate Can use milk or dark chocolate, but flavor will change.
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Make sure it's fully softened to avoid lumps.
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest Essential for the creamsicle taste; avoid substituting with juice.
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract Can substitute with lemon or raspberry extract for a twist.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
Optional Garnish
  • 1 tbsp Orange Sanding Sugar For decoration.
  • 4 oz Melted White Chocolate For dipping the truffles.

Equipment

  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Shallow dish
  • Parchment-lined tray

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by chopping your white chocolate into small, even pieces to ensure it melts evenly. In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, gently heat the chocolate, stirring frequently. Once melted, set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, orange zest, orange extract, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and salt. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until it is light, fluffy, and smooth.
  3. Once the melted white chocolate has cooled slightly but is still pourable, slowly incorporate it into the cream cheese mixture. Stir gently until completely combined.
  4. Transfer the combined mixture into a shallow dish and cover tightly. Place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
  5. After chilling, remove the mixture from the refrigerator and roll it into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  6. If desired, melt additional white chocolate for dipping, or prepare a plate with orange sanding sugar. Dip each truffle into melted chocolate, then roll in sanding sugar.
  7. Return the decorated truffles to the refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes to set.
