Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Grate half a sweet onion directly into the mixture and add Tabasco sauce. Mix until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions. With damp hands, shape into patties about ¾-inch thick and create a dimple in the center. Let them rest in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat, reaching around 400°F. Brush with oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Carefully place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until a caramelized crust forms.
  5. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. Aim for an internal temperature of 160°F.
  6. Cut the burger buns and butter the insides. Toast them for about 1-2 minutes until golden and crunchy.
  7. Assemble by placing a warm patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun, adding lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and cheese if desired.
  8. Cap with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
