  • 2 tablespoons gochujang or sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger or garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or paste
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil like avocado or rapeseed
  • 2 teaspoons light brown sugar to taste
Beef
  • 1 pound flank or skirt steak thinly sliced
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil e.g., avocado or rapeseed
For Serving
  • 4 cups boiled rice
  • 1 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1 cup chopped tomato
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Marinate
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients until smooth.
  2. Thinly slice the beef against the grain and marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.
Cook

  2. Cook marinated beef in batches for about 3 minutes per side until caramelized and browned.
Serve
  1. Sprinkle sesame seeds over cooked beef and serve immediately over rice, with cucumber and tomato on the side.
