Step-by-Step Instructions for Grilled Asian Chicken
  1. Preheat the grill for medium heat, about 350°F. Clean and lightly oil the grates.
  2. Brush chicken thighs with 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and season with kosher salt and fresh ground pepper.
  3. In a saucepan, combine remaining olive oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, granulated garlic, ground ginger, and chili flakes. Whisk for 3-5 minutes until it thickens.
  4. Place chicken on the grill over indirect heat. Grill for 6-8 minutes without flipping.
  5. Flip chicken and generously brush one side with reserved glaze. Grill for an additional 4 minutes.
  6. Flip chicken again, add more glaze, and grill for another 2-3 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Remove chicken from grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro before serving.
