Ingredients

For the Strawberry Syrup
  • 2 cups Fresh Ripe Strawberries Use juicy strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Cane Sugar Granulated or brown sugar can be used as substitutes.
  • 1 cup Water Adjust the amount for your desired syrup thickness.
  • 1 cup Fresh Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed is ideal; lime juice can be used for a twist.
For the Fizz
  • 1 cup Sparkling Water or Seltzer Essential for that bubbly effect; ensure it's chilled.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Container for Syrup
  • Glass for Serving

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash and hull about 2 cups of fresh ripe strawberries. Dice them into small pieces and place in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of cane sugar. Heat over medium-high until sugar dissolves and strawberries release juices, about 5 minutes.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes until the sauce thickens and strawberries soften.
  3. Remove from heat, let cool for a few minutes, and stir in freshly squeezed lemon juice. Optional flavor enhancers can be added now.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then strain through a mesh strainer into a bowl or jar, pressing pulp to extract maximum liquid.
  5. To serve, mix about 2 tablespoons of strawberry syrup with 1 cup of chilled sparkling water or seltzer over ice. Stir gently to combine.
