  • 4 ounces cheese e.g., Havarti, Gruyere, Sharp Cheddar, Mozzarella
  • 4 ounces turkey deli meats or preferred deli meats
For the Italian Dressing
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for lighter option
  • 1 tablespoon red grape juice vinegar apple cider vinegar as substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or adjusted individual herbs

For the Crunchy Veggies
  • 1 cup lettuce finely shredded, alternative: spinach or arugula
  • 1/4 cup red onions thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers chopped, or use pickles/bell peppers

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Soften butter until easy to spread. Mix with Parmesan and garlic powder until smooth.
  2. Spread butter mixture on one side of each bread slice. Layer cheese, turkey, and more cheese on one slice. Top with the other slice, buttered side out.
  3. Heat skillet over low heat. Toast sandwich for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown and cheese melts. Press down with spatula.
  4. Flip sandwich and cook another 5-6 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is oozy.
  5. Prepare dressing by whisking mayonnaise, vinegar, garlic powder, and seasoning. Mix in veggies.
  6. Remove sandwich from skillet, cool slightly, fill with dressed veggies, slice, and serve warm.
