  • 1 pound Green Beans Fresh, frozen, or canned
  • 8 ounces Bacon Thick-cut for flavor
For the Glaze
  • ½ cup Butter Salted or unsalted
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar Light or dark
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce Low-sodium for healthier option
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic for punchier taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to taste

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. If using canned beans, drain thoroughly. If fresh, blanch in salted water for 3-4 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath.
  3. In a skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons of grease.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter, then stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder, mixing until smooth and thick, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Layer green beans in the greased dish, pour the glaze over them, and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving warm.
